Skewers have always been fun to eat, but less fun to make, because it is so time consuming. Not anymore, we say. Take a look at three kinds of skewered delights and appetizers that can turn your party around (3 kinds for 3 major food preferences): a yummy teriyaki pork skewer, a unique pesto-flavored seafood skewer, and flavorful veggie skewers. Here we go!

Turkish Pilaf:
 2 tbsp olive oil
 1 red onion, finely chopped
 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
 1 tsp cardamom pods, finely crushed
 1 tsp ground cumin
 ½ tsp ground black pepper
 1 tsp ground turmeric
 1 bay leaf
 pinch salt
 450 g Basmati rice, washed and well drained 4 cups chicken or vegetable stock
 ½ cup shelled pistachio nuts, chopped
 1 cup dried apricots, chopped
 ¾ cup currants
 ¼ cup chopped coriander leaves
Chili Paste (For the Grilled Beef & Shrimp):
 ½ cup Yield
 3 tbsp Chilli Powder
 2 tsp ground Cumin
 2 tsp ground Corriander 
 1 tsp ground Cinnamon
 2 tsp freshly ground Pepper
 2 tsp Salt
 3 tbsp Vegetable Oil

Turkish Pilaf:

Saute the ingredients in the BRC600 (onions, garlic, coriander leaves, laurel leaf, the spices).

Mix in the Basmati rice, then pour the vegetable stock. Set the Breville Multichef to "Rice/Steam" setting.

Mix in the pistachios, raisins and dried apricots when the rice is almost cooked.

Stir well. Keep the Multichef in "warm" setting and let the rice cook a little bit longer on its own.

Grilled Beef & Shrimp:

Coat the shrimp and the beef separately with the paste.

Chefs Note: Make 2 batches of SpicePaste if marinating seafood and meat to avoid cross contamination. Do not use the same covered container to marinate both items.

Grill the shrimp and the beef in the Breville BBQ Grill

Serve the Turkish Pilaf with the grilled shrimp and beef in a nice plate.
